Osteopaths

Simon Bacon MSc DO ND

Simon is Managing Director and Principal Clinician at Bacon & Associates. He graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 1992 and is one of the most experienced osteopaths in the area. He has lectured in osteopathic diagnosis, spinal mechanics and worked as a clinic supervisor at BCOM in London.  He is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) and has practiced pain relief acupuncture for 15 years. He has an interest in the psychology of health and well-being, and has a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology and Consciousness Studies. Simon believes in an integral approach to healthcare and practice, supported by a holistic model and philosophy which embrases mind body and spiritual aspects of the individual. He has lectured and taught at the prestigious College of Psychic Studies in London and is a member of the Society for psychical Research, Parapsychology Association, British Holistic Medical Association and a full Healer member of the Healing Trust since 1993. Specialist interests include: acute and chronic back pain, sciatica, and complex pain syndromes and Healing in palliative care.He enjoys sculpture, drawing and sailing, and continues an academic interest in psychology and consciousness studies and art.

Thorunn Bacon BSc (Hons) Ost Med MA

Thorunn graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 1995. Thorunn was the first Icelander to study osteopathy , and played a key role in getting osteopathy recognised in Iceland.  She is a qualified Naturopath and has a special interest in the menopause, premenstural syndrome and food intolerance symptoms, and offers food intolerance testing in Colchester and Wivenhoe. Thorunn has an MA in creative writing and is also a writer and performance coach, specialising in working with writers. She runs creative writing classes and workshops in the area.

Tony Lewington BSc (Hons) Ost

Tony has been a longstanding associate at the practice and has developed a very popular following with patients over the last 10 years. He graduated from the London College of Osteopathy in 1997 and he was the first Associate to join the practice, and his presence and professionalism has ensured a growing patient list. He has his own practice in Witham and splits his time between both locations.  Tony is a qualified to use acupuncture and has trained in remedial massage and cranial osteopathy. His continued commitment to professional development and keen interest in the latest osteopathic advances ensures that the treatment provided maintains gentle, holistic and patient centred.  Tony enjoys golf and keeping fit, and this year he ran the London Marathon, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Tim Curtis BOst

Tim joined the practice in 2007 after graduating from the British School of Osteopathy. He has broadened his skills to include cranial treatment and acupuncture as additional treatment modalities and follows a holistic approach to patient care.  Tim splits his week between working at Bacon & Associates and his own practice in Manningtree. Tim is local to the area and has known Simon for many years as a friend and fellow sailor, and he continues to enjoy water sports as he is a keen and experienced windsurfer and Kite surfer.

Susannah Money BOst

Susannah joined the practice after graduating from the British school of osteopathy in London in 2009. She has a special interest in treating animals as well as humans and has since gone on to study equine and canine osteopathy.  She is developing these skills and has a growing list of equine and canine clients!  Her interest in animal osteopathy has emerged as a result of being an experienced rider.  Susannah works at the Wivenhoe practice, but she has been instrumental in developing our Clacton and Frinton Clinics where  she has also been working for the last two years.

Justine Garnes MOst

I began my osteopathic degree at the British School of Osteopathy in London and qualified with a Masters Degree in Osteopathy. Whilst training and since being qualified, I have treated a wide range of ages from babies to the elderly. As well as being a Osteopath, I am a YMCA Qualified Fitness Instructor and can carry out Acupuncture, skills of which I use in combination with my osteopathic treatments. I decided to become an Osteopath after visiting one for my shoulder pain I had experienced since a young age, I was amazed at the few treatments needed to resolve the problem and became quickly aware that this is what I wanted my occupation to be.I am confident, outgoing and work hard to improve the well-being of my patients by giving good treatment and management advice. I enjoy helping people improve their quality of life and often look into new researches on osteopathic treatments.

Debbie Dewis MCSP SRP

Debbie graduated from the university of Manchester with a degree in physiotherapy in 1998. She started her career at Addenbrooke’s hospital, Cambridge, where she worked in a variety of settings.  She followed this by working in New Zealand and Australia for two years. During this time, she worked in a ski resort and in a sports injuries clinic. Debbie has 13 years experience treating a full spectrum of muscular and skeletal conditions.  Debbie also is a trained Bowen Therapist.  Bowen Therapy helps release stored stress and tension in the body which may be hindering progress. Hence, where necessary, the incorporation of this technique speeds up the healing process
